Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is employed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail address, but to look as being sent from another one, often with the idea to fraud the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, a special record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers around the world have it. The record features all of the e-mail servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an email address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and in case the sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the target destination. In case, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the specified domain, the email message will not be forwarded and it will be removed. In case you employ this service, it will prevent third parties from sending spam e-mails that look as if they have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of mouse-clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to activate it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down list and then enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be certified to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the emails for it, not a third-party supplier. This option will give you the best standard of security, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are managed in a different place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you are able to protect your email addresses by enabling the SPF protection service for any domain hosted in the account with only a couple of clicks. This is done in the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you lack previous practical experience with such matters, you will not have any kind of problems to enable the security. The only things that you'll need to do will be to select a domain name from a drop-down menu and after that type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. The moment the updated record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be mailed globally only if they're sent from that server. When your email addresses are managed by our company and not by some third-party provider, you can also use an option for emails to be sent only when the domain name includes our MX records and the aforementioned is the most secure option.
